The program of the Kunstverein Zürich explores practices, which (apparently) in our society have no economic value. In the economic heart of the city they created a outdoor-platform that is inspired by the trading floors of the Zurich stock exchange, before being overtaken by the digital wave.
Denise Bertschi proposes to re-create the relief of the Rebekka-fountain at Bürklipatz, which is hidden by the structure for the performance. The relief shows an intimate scene of a woman pouring water into a man’s mouth. Memory foam islands form new reliefs of the visitors and participants bodies. The goblets used are called POWERHOUSE / NEUTRAL – COMPETITIVE / RELAX, YOU’VE GOT A STRONG PARTNER AT YOUR SIDE and are slogans taken from representational videos of the Zurich stock exchange SIX. The scene is supported by a sound piece rearranging language/music used in the very same videos and reflect on the empty language of this highly speculative economical value system.
